Scammers trick users into providing access to their Minecraft accounts by pretending to require email verification for a reward or server access.

How does it work?

  1. You receive a message offering a rank-up, free item, or an invite to a Minecraft-related server.

  2. After joining the server, you see a "verification system" that asks you to confirm your Minecraft account.

  3. The system prompts you to enter your email address and check your inbox for a single-use Microsoft code.

  4. You submit the email and code, unknowingly handing over full access to your account.

  5. Scammers change your email, phone number, and password, locking you out permanently.

Key reasons this scam works:

  • Many users don’t realize that Microsoft accounts can be accessed using only an email and a single-use code—no password required.

  • Microsoft’s verification emails don’t make it clear that the code can be used to log in to your account.

How to prevent it?

Avoid falling for this scam:

  1. Don’t trust random people offering free items or rank-ups. There is no free lunch.

  2. Be cautious of servers with "verification systems."

  3. Legitimate servers do not ask for your email, password, or single-use codes.

  4. Double-check before entering your Microsoft login anywhere.

How to fix it if you were a victim?

If the hacker changed your email:

  1. Try logging into Outlook with your original email.

  2. If you get an error saying “account doesn’t exist,” the email has been changed.

  3. Unfortunately, in most cases, Microsoft cannot recover accounts with changed emails.

Final Reminder:

  • NEVER enter your Microsoft login details outside of official Microsoft websites.

  • If a verification system asks for your email and a single-use code—LEAVE IMMEDIATELY.

  • Do your research before trusting any "verification" process.

Contacting Microsoft Support will not help.

If your email is still attached to the account: Fill out the Form ASAP.
